I read a few of the articles, and enjoyed
The Way of the Wiki for its upbeat assessment of the tool's potential and uses in education. It stresses the interactive nature of a wiki, and how classroom walls disappear as studenrts from other continents are invited to join. For the global community this is important, yet one should not forget how tech skills - as all resources - are not equitably distributed and until they are, the global classroom concept will be a pleasing myth as opposed to a meaningful reality.
I think you made a really interesting point about how global connections are important but may be challenged due to resources or lack there of.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the fact that we need to remember that not all students have access to all of these resources. It is important to remember that even in a community like Needham we can't and shouldn't assume that all students have access to these technologies at home.
